World Quality Week 2025

11 Nov 25

World Quality Week 2025 (10-14 November) is themed around "Quality: think differently". This theme, says the CQI, "invites us to challenge traditional approaches to quality management and embrace new ways of thinking. It's an opportunity for organisations, teams and individuals to reflect on and reimagine how we approach quality."

This aligns perfectly with GIRI's mission of culture change across sector to reduce error and therefore improve quality, productivity, safety and sustainability, and we have lots of useful resources to support you that align with the three core aspects of this year's theme as identified by the CQI.

Strategic approach

This is about aligning your quality improvement with your organisation's strategy and context and embedding quality into strategic decision-making at all levels.

Resource: A Strategy for Change

The GIRI report A Strategy for Change establishes the most economically significant errors and their causes. This thorough research helps to build the business case for error reduction to tackle up to 25% of project cost lost through the direct and indirect cost of error.

Additional resource: The GIRI Error Reduction Framework

While still in the pilot phase, the GIRI ERF aims to improve an organisation's ability to identify, address and prevent errors and improve quality in a structured, effective, and proactive way. It provides a strategic approach to error reduction and an opportunity to tackle systemic issues within organisations and projects, leading to long-term improvements in behaviour and company culture.

Performance

Achieving high quality standards requires a proactive approach that identifies and mitigates potential problems before they occur, which in turn requires setting the right culture and expectations on projects right from the start.

Resource: The GIRI Design Guide

With a focus on the early stages of a project and the importance of taking a robust approach to the design process to avoid errors further down the line, The GIRI Design Guide provides good-practice recommendations across 11 key themes that can help you set your projects up for success.

Additional resources: GIRI Technology Reports

As digital construction technologies continue to develop, many solutions already exist that can aid with the proactive identification of potential issues, but which one is best suited to your project and how best to use it? GIRI's suite of technology reports looks at current technologies and best practices and provides case studies demonstrating the potential use cases for different technologies.

This highlights the importance of involving the whole business in creating a quality culture and empowering teams and individuals to take ownership of quality in their everyday roles by fostering a culture of collaboration and learning.

Resource: GIRI Training

GIRI's training courses help to embed a learning culture within an organisation, directly targeting the underlying root causes of error and empowering companies, project teams, and individuals to get it right first time.
