Get ready for World Quality Week 2026

2 Nov 26

The theme for World Quality Week 2026 (9-13 November) is Quality: Powering Performance. According to organiser the CQI, the theme invites organisations to consider how managing and improving quality can help deliver superior performance: "From driving customer experience to delivering trusted innovation, to eliminating mistakes and silos, this is an opportunity to identify opportunities, share insights and commit to change in your organisation."

The CQI breaks down this year’s theme into three parts:

  • Performance drivers - the key attributes and competences that drive quality performance
  • Performance systems - the management system that help people and teams collaborate to deliver value and mitigate risk
  • Performance improvement - the right performance measures to understand performance

GIRI has a number of resources that can help you in each of these areas.

Performance drivers

GIRI training supports organisations and teams to develop the culture and behaviours for quality performance.

GIRI Training

Our training courses are a powerful tool to help embed the behaviours and techniques within teams and organisations to reduce error and improve quality. Find out how to establish a learning culture within your organisation that directly targets the underlying root causes of error and empowers everyone from senior leadership to project teams and individuals to get it right first time.

Impact of GIRI training

The publication earlier this year of the key evaluation findings of the GIRI CITB Productivity Training Commission highlighted the potential impact of GIRI training.

The commission saw four major construction organisations receive a total of £361,306 of CITB funding to go through the process of becoming GIRI Approved Training Providers and deliver GIRI training across a 25 construction projects. The training programme is estimated to have approximately halved the predicted cost of error on the targeted projects, saving £92.6 or 9.83% of the total value of the projects.

Performance systems

GIRI's technology working group and industry experts share insight about the systems and processes that deliver value and mitigate risk.

How technology can help

As new digital tools, including AI, continue to develop at pace, they offer the potential to support quality improvement – if implemented successfully and appropriately. GIRI’s series of technology reports is updated every year to reflect the rapid evolution of the digital workspace and provide up-to-date insights into technology best practice. Our latest report, The use of technology to reduce error in design and construction: Best practice casebook 2026, presents 13 case studies demonstrating how organisations in construction and infrastructure are applying digital tools and emerging technologies to improve delivery, collaboration and performance.

GIRI in Action film series

Find out how pioneering professionals are putting GIRI's error reduction mission into practice with our GIRI in Action film series developed for the initiative’s 10th anniversary. In this video series, industry experts and GIRI members share their experiences of addressing the most common causes of error, the lessons they have learned, and the strategies they have put into practice.

Performance improvement

GIRI's systematic approach to error reduction helps organisations to understand performance and drive quality improvement.

GIRI Error Reduction Framework

The CQI recommends a systematic approach to quality, and the GIRI ERF provides a standardised, structured, step-by-step process that can be used to systemically identify, diagnose and reduce errors and improve quality. It takes a systems change approach to deliver change and encourage continuous improvement within the complex environment of the construction industry, and provides an opportunity to tackle systemic issues, leading to long-term improvements in behaviour and company culture.

Design Guide e-learning

Collaboration is another key aspect of quality highlighted by the CQI, and the importance of collaboration in the design phase is one of the topics covered in the GIRI Design Guide e-learning course. This online course, which focuses on reducing design error to deliver better outcomes, is a free resource for the industry that can benefit anyone working in the UK construction process, from clients, designers and contractors to project managers and supply chain partners. The course takes around two hours and you can complete it at your own pace, saving your progress along the way.
