Two more organisations sign up to GIRI23 Feb 23
GIRI contines to grow in 2023 with the addition of the Atomic Weapons Establishment and Hinkley Point C as members.
AWE manufactures and maintains the warheads for the UK's Trident nuclear deterrent. It operates advanced research, design and production facilities and assists the UK Government in developing and delivering a range of integrated support services, including national nuclear security and counter-terrorism solutions.
Hinkley Point C in Somerset is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in more than 20 years. Construction started in 2016 and it is expected to be completed in September 2028. When complete, the power station will provide low-carbon electricity for around six million homes, and the electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions a year over its 60-year lifespan.
