CITB funding update

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced the withdrawal of CITB short course grants from 8 January 2026.

This change to CITB funding may affect some organisations participating in GIRI Training.

For now, funding support for GIRI Training is available exclusively through the CITB Employer Network. CITB are set to announce a new model for large employers (i.e. those with 250 or more staff) to claim funding towards the cost of short courses from 1 April 2026.

For training booked before 8 December 2025 and taking place between 8 January and 31 March 2026, evidence of this is required to secure the current grant rate.

CITB-registered organisations should contact their local CITB Employer Network to access grants to support GIRI Training.

GIRI is working with the CITB to secure funding to support error reduction training in line with our goal to improve skills across the sector.
