We're looking for the next Tom Barton Award winner

13 Nov 23

Do you have a colleague who has gone above and beyond in implementing initiatives to improve quality, productivity, safety and sustainability by eradicating errors? Someone whose passion and enthusiasm for eliminating error deserves to be recognised?

Why not nominate them for the Tom Barton Award and inspire them to continue spreading the word? The Tom Barton Award celebrates engineering and construction professionals who have demonstrated excellence in implementing initiatives to improve quality, productivity, safety and sustainability by eradicating mistakes. While there is no age restriction, nominations of young professionals whose work has demonstrably enhanced project efficiency are particularly welcomed.

"We are now lookout for our 2024 award winner, and I am asking all GIRI members and their colleagues to consider who they might nominate for this honour," said GIRI executive director Cliff Smith.

As well as the peer recognition and professional kudos that comes with an ICE award, the winner will be invited to attend the ICE awards ceremony in October, and their achievement will be publicised by GIRI through our website, newsletter and social media platforms – this article highlights our 2023 winner Professor Perry Shard from John Sisk & Son.

Nominations are open now and the deadline for submissions is 13 February 2024. All the information about the award, how to nominate, and the nomination form can be found on the ICE website
