Next GIRI forum to focus on technology

19 Oct 21

Does technology have a role to play in reducing the occurrence of error in the construction industry? Are there too many technologies out there that appear to do the same thing? Do you feel the industry invests enough in training its staff to use technology efficiently?

These are just a few of the questions that a panel of speakers will be debating at our next GIRI online forum, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 2nd November between 1pm and 2pm.

The four guest speakers, all of whom are members of the GIRI Technology Working Group, will talk about their own experiences of implementing new technology in the industry, and its impact on error, both positive and negative, before inviting questions and comments from the audience.

Presenters will share their views on how technology is currently being used, the challenge of managing data, and other critical issues, as well as opening up the discussion to talk about how we can ensure that new technologies help reduce error, rather than hinder it.

The panel consists of Melanie Dawson (Director, Origin 7 and chair of GIRI Technology Working Group); Steffan Speer (Business Improvement Director Construction, Morgan Sindall); Abhi Srivastra (Managing Director, Teknobuilt) and Steve Green (Framework Bid Writer, Bowmer & Kirkland) and the forum will be moderated by GIRI executive director Cliff Smith.

The forum is open to GIRI members and the wider industry; it is free to attend but registration is necessary.
