Laing O'Rourke becomes a GIRI Approved Training Provider

4 Jun 25

GIRI member Laing O’Rourke is the latest employer to become a GIRI Approved Training Provider after beginning its programme of train-the-trainer courses in February 2025.

Laing O’Rourke became a member of GIRI in 2024 and booked its first leadership training course in December the same year, after which the business decided to implement GIRI’s training more widely. The aim is to train 40 in-house trainers this year to deliver GIRI’s Supervisory and Management Skills and Training Across Interfaces courses internally across five projects initially, with broader rollout thereafter.

The first group of peer trainers completed part one of the Interfaces training in February (GIRI IN-01 Avoiding construction errors at interfaces - Part one: Collaboration), and part two in March.

A group of 10 peer trainers was then trained to deliver the Supervisory and Management Skills course in April. Additional train-the-trainer courses in both streams of training will be delivered later this year.

Leigh Holland, Laing O’Rourke’s Head of Quality and Building Safety, said: "Implementing the GIRI training across Laing O’Rourke and interested parties is a testament to our dedication to getting it right.

“By equipping our teams with the skills and knowledge to empower helpful challenge, error-reduction techniques, and key causes of error, we are building on our culture of quality and excellence. Deploying a CITB-approved training course brings additional benefits, ensuring our training meets industry standards and enhances our operational efficiency.

“Our continued partnership with GIRI reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality projects for our clients right first time."
