GIRI featured on The Building Podcast

GIRI executive director Cliff Smith has been interviewed by Mark Wakeford, host of the The Building Podcast and chair of the National Federation of Builders, in an epsiode about the cost of error and the need to reduce waste in the construction sector.

The Building Podcast focuses on the issues facing the construction industry, and each episode features Mark in conversation with an industry expert, exploring potential solutions. Previous episodes have focused on sustainability and net zero, the Building Safety Act, structural timber, avoiding disputes, and women in construction.

In episode 17, released on 7 November, Cliff and Mark discuss GIRI's research into the cost of error and how up to a fifth of the industry's turnover is wasted on error and rework. Discussing how GIRI works to support members and educate the sector through best practice tand knowledge sharing, Cliff highlights the need for collaboration, leadership and competence throughout the supply chain, as well as touching on the growing role of technology to reduce error.
