GIRI appoints two new board members

7 Mar 22

Jenny McLaughlin and Richard Davis have been appointed to the GIRI board of directors following a recruitment process that saw expressions of interest received from six highly qualified individuals from member companies.

Jenny is the project manager for infrastructure services at Heathrow and Richard is the assurance and performance director at Kier Construction Division.

GIRI launched a search for a new director in January to bring the board back to full strength and increase its capacity to support executive director Cliff Smith achieve GIRI’s strategic objectives.

Three candidates were shortlisted for interview and the existing board members then voted to select both Jenny and Richard to join the board.

“We were extremely pleased to have such a strong response from our members for the board vacancy,” said Cliff Smith. “While it is reassuring to know that our members hold GIRI’s work in such high regard, it did make the job more difficult for us, and the applications were of such quality that we appointed two new members. We believe that Jenny and Richard have the right skills and experience to be real assets to GIRI and we look forward to working with them as we continue to work towards zero error in construction.”

Jenny and Richard join current board members Damian Leydon (Sunergos Partnership), Rupert Shingleton (Costain), Gavin Pike (Bennetts Associates), and Helen Soulou (Houses of Parliament Restoration & Renewal) alongside executive director Cliff Smith.
