Final speaker line up confirmed for members' meeting

The full speaker line-up for the spring GIRI Members' Meeting has now been confirmed with Building Safety Alliance interim chair Anthony Taylor the final name to be added to the programme. 

Anthony - who was also the chair of Working Group 8 - will join Clare Price, Brendan van Rooyen and Dawn Hillier to discuss the core theme of competence and its relationship to error at our online meeting on Thursday 10th February. 

Anthony will cover the background to the competencies required of individuals delivering a building safety manager role, how these were determined, and how they have been developed through BSI PAS 8673 Built environment – Framework for competence of individual Building Safety Managers and Nominated Individual Building Safety Managers – Specification. He will introduce the work of the Building Safety Alliance and the provision of an assessment process, and placement of individuals and organisations delivering the role of BSM onto a National Register.

  • Dawn Hillier, head of strategy for standards & qualifications, CITB. Developing competence frameworks for installers – What are the opportunities for GIRI training/resources?
  • Brendan van Rooyen, head of professional services, Institution of Civil Engineers. ICE's new continuing professional development framework.

The deadline for registration for the event - which is open to GIRI members only - is close of business on Tuesday 8th February.
