Guest speaker Helen Soulou will lead a discussion, including practical examples, of how to use the 8 Discipline (8D) root cause analysis methodology to eliminate error in the construction industry.

The 8D model is a problem-solving process typically employed by quality professionals, and is most commonly used in the automotive industry. It was developed at the request of senior leadership at Ford Motor Company in 1986-1987.

The purpose of the 8D methodology is to identify, correct, and eliminate recurring problems, making it useful in product and process improvement.

Helen Soulou is Head of the Quality Management function at Heathrow Airport. She has gained experience of working in this field across a number of sectors, including the automotive and aerospace industries, before joining Heathrow in 2013.
