GIRI forum: After Grenfell: How should GIRI respond to the Hackitt Report and Building Safety Bill?
Location: Online
Date: Monday 29th March 2021
Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Cost: Free (Open to GIRI members and industry professionals)
The latest event in GIRI's third series of discussion forums will focus on the Grenfell Tower fire, the Hackitt Report, and the Building Safety Bill.
GIRI Training & Consultancy Director Nick Francis will provide an overview of the events at Grenfell, which will be followed by expert presentations from consultant Steve Green on the Hackitt Report and Building Safety Bill, and Paul Lowe, partner at specialist law firm Weightmans, on the legal implications.
A group discussion led by Nick Francis will then consider what these developments mean for the wider industry. The discussion will cover:
- Behaviours – how these relate to what GIRI already does and how do we embed them into the industry
- Processes –current processes and future (BSB) processes; what does this mean for how we work in future?; and costs implications.
- Legal and insurance implications – obstacles to current work and future costs.
The forum will then pose the question: how should GIRI respond?
